As the Executive Director of the non profit Mansion Memories my experience as a volunteer at the Redlands Visitor Center has been wonderful! Not only do I get to share my love of Redlands with the community, but I also get to share the magic of our Magical Day programs and what a joy it is to make memories for kids in crisis. I have connected with possible nominees for our programs and also donors during my shifts at the center, too! I never expected this would be a part of my time at the center, but it comes so naturally as I get to chat with such wonderful visitors. I feel the Visitor Center is a unique place in our community and we can represent our non profits and the good we are doing for our town. I highly recommend volunteering!

For Kirsten Scorsur, 40, and her husband Jeff Scorsur, 42, who moved to Redlands a few days ago from the San Jose area, the Visitor Center is the perfect place to know about Redlands. Kirsten stumbled upon the center after having lunch at a downtown restaurant. Her hobbies are outdoor activities such as boating and hiking, and Redlands offers a great amount of hiking events throughout the year. This is great. The Visitors Center has been a wonderful addition to our community. Conveniently located downtown, it is a hub for all that is happening in our City and is a great place to showcase various activities, organizations and artists. As a local photographer, it's been a privilege to partner with the Redlands Visitor's Center to showcase some of my work. We live in such a beautiful city with so much going on, there is always something new to capture. The Vistors Center not only gives me a new platform to share my work but an expanded audience as well. While there are lots of "high tech" methods for people to get information, people appreciate the thoughtfulness and personal touch that the docents at the Redlands Visitor Center brings. People are able to get the questions answered, have easy access to brochures, information about civic organizations, and restaurant recommendations for locals. With one of the best variety of Redlands merchandise around, visitors often leave with something for themselves ora gift for a loved one. Local business, supporting local artists strengthens our community and encourages local artists. 

Asa local artist in Redlands, I have been displaying my art work in the Visitor’s Center since it opened last June. I have sold countless originals, reproductions, and gift ware items that bear my artwork at the Visitor’s Center. The volunteers who work at the center often tell me that visitors are eager to purchase items that reflect the natural, historical and agricultural history of Redlands and that my artwork fulfills this desire. I am honored to sell and display my art in the Visitor’s Center because it offers the public a chance to see and purchase my art work and helps the Visitor’s Center in that a portion of the proceeds from the sales of my art helps to fund the Center’s overhead costs. It is a win-win situation for the community, the Visitor’s Center, and for me.

The Redlands Visitor Center has provided a much needed “hub” for businesses both downtown and Redlands in general.  It provides a welcoming space, with Redlands promotional merchandise “shopportunities” as well maps, tours, and information (all dispensed by a charming local host!) that gives our town every chance to showcase it’s many attributes.  It’s a much needed space that allows businesses of all kinds to showcase themselves in ways that are meaningful, and profitable, to them in a non-competitive atmosphere that is also geared for promotion. It also contributes an accessible family space where young families can give their children a quiet play, feeding, and changing space, as well as a public restroom facility for young and old alike.
As a resident, the Redlands Visitor Center has personally provided me with: a meeting spot with friends, gift ideas for friends and family at Christmas and other occasions, participation in a promotional event for a local resident, and a volunteer opportunity to share my knowledgeand love of Redlands to visitors and locals alike.  It is a gem located in the heart of our city that shines over the entire town.
